As someone with a passionate love of food and cooking for the past 28 years, I decided to set up a website offering a forum for other food enthusiasts to be able to exchange opinions, information and indulge in a little light-hearted banter!
I do not aim to have a huge database of other peoples recipes; this has already been done in many other places, to repeat the process would be pointless! I am sharing recipes I have been making for many years, together with those I have eaten in restaurants and enjoyed so decided to re-create at home, others have been put together because the ingredients were all that were to hand at the time. Some are my original thoughts, others classic dishes, hopefully a little easier to prepare! There is also section for users recipes and something for those who have never really tried their hand in the kitchen
The recommendations in the beginners section are specifically aimed at young people leaving home and having to fend for themselves for the first time, the methods and ingredients may leave some experienced cooks screaming wrong and cheat. That is true but the aim is to keep the ingredients (and also the cost) to an absolute minimum, whilst producing something nutritionally better and cheaper than fast food or supermarket cook/chill ranges yet still acceptable to the palate.
On a personal note, I have lived on both sides of the Equator, in Australia and the UK, I currently live in France which may explain the diversity of ingredients, food measurements and ideas. I began my working life part-time in a bakery; worked in a restaurant; as PA to a chef, turned senior Catering Manager and some freelance work catering for dinner parties, functions etc.
